I was born and raised in
Denver, Colorado. In 1985 I made my first trip to Italy and quickly fell
in love with the country. Despite a language barrier and a new culture I
felt perfectly at home. After finishing college I decided to move to
Italy. I moved to Florence and found work teaching English in the winter
and guiding bicycle tours in the summer. I went on to guide for different
tour operators.
Determined to make use of my degree in economics I found work with the largest
multinational company in Florence - General Electric. I worked in finance
and accounting. After a few difficult years I decided I was more suited to running active
vacations and I started Charnes Tours.
I now spend most of the year in Italy. My wonderful
mother Barbara, mans the phone in Colorado, and we continue to grow.
I enjoy my work as much as
ever and still relish a plate of spaghetti with a nice Chianti wine.
Ciao,
