Guided Amalfi Coast Hiking

Our Amalfi Coast Hiking tour begins in sunny Sorrento. One-hour south of Naples, Sorrento is the ideal jumping off point for our Amalfi adventure. This tour features the best of the Amalfi coast. An Italian guide shows us the marvels of Pompeii. We spend a day exploring the island of Capri. Quiet coastal footpaths lead to spectacular views of mountains and sea. Olives and lemons abound. You will want to try a limoncello (a sweet lemon liquor served ice cold). For something refreshing, with less kick, treat yourself to a granita al limone (lemon flavored Italian ice). Leave room for dinner as you will want to savor authentic southern Italian cooking and the freshest seafood.

Day 1 Sorrento Rendezvous at our Sorrento hotel. After lunch take a leisurely hike. Stroll to a bluff with views across the sea to the island of Capri. Lemon trees, vineyards, and olive groves make for a quintessential southern Italian background. This walk provides the perfect introduction to the Sorrento peninsula with views of the azure sea and green mountains.

Day 2 Pompeii Visit the famous ruins of Pompeii with an Italian guide. In 79 AD Mount Vesuvius erupted burying the town under 30 feet of mud and ash. Today you can explore the excavated homes and businesses gaining a rich insight into the daily life of Romans 2,000 years ago. After lunch enjoy a downhill hike back to Sorrento.

Day 3 Island of Capri A fast hydrofoil speeds us across the bay to Capri. Visit the beautiful Blue Grotto with its magical incandescent waters. Take a chairlift up Monte Solare for panoramic views. Explore Villa San Michelle a perfectly preserved Roman Imperial Villa.

Day 4-6 Ravello Transfer to Ravello for a two-night stay. High above the sea Ravello is a stylish little town that is known for ravishing gardens and the best views of the Amalfi coast. Hike downhill to the coastal towns of Atrani and Amalfi. Just around the bend from Amalfi, little Atrani has a sandy beach, a charming town square, and few tourists. Hike to the sleepy towns of Scala and Pontone.
