Spend half a day with an Italian family at their country house. Learn to make traditional Tuscan cuisine with produce from the family garden. (vegetarian classes available).

What if it rains?

On self-guided bike tours there is no van support. However, we do move your luggage from hotel to hotel. In the event of rain you can catch a ride with us when we move your bags. We provide our guests with a cell phone. You can call in the morning and make arrangements for a lift.

Self-Guided San Gimignano Cycling
Optional Cooking Class (US$ 100 per person)
Spend a morning with an Italian family preparing a four-course feast.

After your class sit down with your hosts and enjoy the fruits of your labor over a leisurely lunch. A different local wine accompanies each dish.

Classes are held at a 700-year-old farmhouse in the countryside outside San Gimignano. Classes are scheduled on the third day of your bicycle tour.

The menu varies but typically includes:

  • Homemade tagliatelle pasta
  • Panzanella, a refreshing Tuscan summer bread salad
  • Tomato and garlic pasta sauce
  • Cannoli bean pasta sauce
  • Pecorino cheese served with local honeys and pine nuts
  • Chicken sautéed with oranges
  • Vernaccia white and Chianti red wines
  • Vin Santo (Tuscan dessert wine) and biscotti
