Montalcino Castle, Montalcino
The 14th century Montalcino castle is right out of a fairy tale. You can see the ancient walls, towers, and the basilica. Inside the castle is a fabulous little wine shop with the best wines from the region. Climb the castle walls for great views.
Biondi Santi Winery, Montalcino
The Biondi-Santi winery was established in 1880. Shortly thereafter the winery made viniculture history when it produced the first Brunello using a clone of the Sangiovese grape. Today the same family produces 70,000 bottles renowned as being among the best reds in Italy.
Cantina Redi Winery, Montepulciano
Cantina Redi’s massive ageing cellars were cut deep into the rock under the town at the end of the 17th Century. Today you can descend an ancient staircase and admire the cellars filled with huge wooden casks of wine. The winery produces 180,000 bottles per year.
