Tuscan Coast Bike Tour

The southern Tuscan coast has remained delightfully undeveloped. Away from the region’s well-known beachfront playgrounds lies a more secluded world of hilltop towns, quiet beaches, and national parks. The coast is dotted with ancient villages free of beachgoing crowds. These small towns got their start as Etruscan or Roman fortifications built to keep seaside invaders at bay. Over the centuries these fortresses turned into enchanting hilltop towns with spectacular sea views. We stay in Massa Marittima and Campiglia Marittima delightful coastal towns with "maritime" names. These towns are not as well-known as other Tuscan destinations, but that is exactly what makes them special. On this bike tour we swim in the emerald waters of the Mediterranean, visit Etruscan archeological sites, and tour local wineries. The tour includes two nights at an Italian resort hotel complete with its own private beach and a spa built into a man-made grotto. On this tour you will experience the wonders of the southern Tuscan coast.
